Joshua Ingold began his career working as a machinist and metal fabricator before pursuing an education in design.  He earned his BFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University where he received the Rickert-Zeibold Trust Award in 2009.

Joshua earned a Graduate Fellowship to the Rhode Island School of Design, where he received a Masters of Architecture degree in 2012.  Since that time he has been invited to participate as a guest critic in the Department of Architecture,  co-authored and taught  the curriculum for a thesis preparation seminar for the Furniture Design Department, worked as a thesis advisor at RISD, and taught sculpture and woodworking studios for the School of Art and Design at SIUC.

Joshua started Object-a in 2010 while working as Design Assistant and Lead Fabricator for a Providence based design/build architectural group. He relocated the studio to the Southern Illinois area in late 2014.

A background in both sculpture and architecture have helped in developing the capacity to recognize the spatial implications and conceptual potency of the objects with which we interact daily. We specialize in the custom development of objects and installations that produce spatial relationships between users, program shifts and versatility, and help the owner/occupant express themselves through the act of dwelling.
